Anatolia has been an important center for soil arts throughout history.
Ceramic works have been among the national arts of the Turks since Central Asia.
Soil arts developed further with the use of materials and techniques unique to Anatolia during the Seljuks and Ottomans and spread all over the world from there.
The tiles used in architecture and the ceramic works used in pots and pans developed in the same parallel.
MS. 9-15th century. Olive green and yellow glazed Byzantine Ceramics are red paste, white slipped ceramics made with the slip scraping (Sgrafitto) technique.
Seljuk ceramics and tiles showed great developments, especially between the 13th and 14th centuries, and richly colored and patterned works were produced on which hunting scenes, animal and human figures were used.
The art of tiles, which developed depending on the architecture, entered Anatolia with the Seljuks and gave successful examples.

Various flowers such as tulips, carnations, vines and spring branches, bird, deer, rabbit, fish, animal fight scenes, galleons, naskh and kufic scripts are seen in the underglaze Ottoman tiles and ceramics developed in the 16th century in a richness and delicacy that has not been seen before.17. After the 19th century, the production quality of Iznik tiles and ceramics deteriorated, motifs and patterns were deformed, colors became lifeless, and production almost came to an end in the 18th century.
Today, the Ottoman tile and ceramic art continues to be produced with the same care, meticulousness and love, using the production technique of the 14th-17th centuries, in ateliers whose number does not exceed a few.
