Chess was a game that was loved and played in the Ottoman Palace, as it was in Eastern and Western cultures.
Since three-dimensional figures could not be made due to religious beliefs in the Ottoman Empire, chess pieces were generally without figures.
The Murassa* Chess set was created by adapting the surviving pieces of the original 16th century chess set.
The original set is decorated with various motifs made with openwork and turquoise techniques.
Cabochon, ruby or turquoise stones with gold slots were used on their tops.
The tops of nine of the stones are ruby, and six of them are turquoise.
The pieces in the Murassa Chess Set are shaped one by one using handmade glass.
It is decorated using gold gilding and glass paint.
Semi-precious natural agate stone is used on the stones. *Murassa means adorned with precious stones and adorned with ores.
